Field trip to Natural History Museum of LA County
At the museum, you can visit the Gem and Mineral Hall, where there are displays showcasing more than 2,000 spectacular specimens in an exhibit that is considered to be one of the finest exhibits of gems and minerals in the world; discover backyard wildlife and check out the Nature Map, learn how to identify bugs, and more in the Nature Lab; experience the Insect Zoo, with 9 terrariums that are frequently updated with new specimens - you may even get to touch a bug or two!

The Natural History Museum also offers four days each school year when homeschoolers can come free of charge! Each Homeschool Day has an assigned theme with free drop-in activities designed to help you and your students get the most out of our exhibits.

The La Brea Tar Pits and Museum also participates in homeschool days for a total of eight Homeschool Days each year. If you can't make it to homeschool days, you can come on Free Tuesdays (held on the first Tuesdays of every month, except July and August, and every Tuesday in September)
and everyone in your party will receive free General Admission.
