Olivas Adobe Historical Park field trip
x
Experience life on a California Rancho at Olivas Adobe Historical Park in Ventura, California. Olivas Adobe is Ventura County's only remaining 2 story adobe home, built by Don Raymundo Olivas in 1847. This historical landmark is home to many seasonal events and activities.
Students will hear the story of Don Olivas, including how he became a wealthy rancher following his time in the military, and how he, his wife, and his 21 children lived in the home. They will also take a tour of the 2-story adobe home and surrounding acreage.
Finally, the docents will lead students through various traditional rancho activities, such as creating bricks out of adobe, rancho tool use and roping exercises, and corn grinding.
The grounds also contain many areas of interest beyond the house walls. The Park boasts a gorgeous rose garden perched next to the Courtyard fountain, as well as an herb garden and historic Mission Grapes and Fushias.
Call the Park today to schedule a gorgeous trip to the old Rancho.
Admission is free.
