Field trip to Port Hueneme Historical Society Museum
"The little museum in the Friendly City by the Sea"; an apt self-description for the Port Hueneme Historical Society Museum. This hidden gem is located only steps from the beach and holds multiple collections of the city's past. The building housing the Museum is a sight in itself, being designed by famed architect Myron Hunt.

Tours can be either self-led, where visitors can read the storyboards that line the walls and explore the various exhibits, or docent-led. Docent-led tours can be tailored to the exhibits you or your students are interested in. Some items on display include antique farm implement, an 1893 Grand Piano, WWII ration books, and a 3,000 piece collection of vintage salt and pepper shakers. The Museum's displays are rotated frequently as well, so even if you've been before, you'll never regret visiting again.

Tours can be scheduled by calling the Museum. The proximity of the Museum to the beach and other tourist attraction also makes it a great part of a day-long trip to the area.
