Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery field trip
x
The Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery hosts a variety of historical and contemporary art including a world-renowned ceramics collection, a collection of Japanese prints from the 15th - 21st centuries, a collection of 600-year-old Chinese paintings, works of leading painters from the 19th and 20th centuries, African American contemporary art, art by female artists, and a photography collection that showcases works from the invention of photography through present day. The primary goal of the Gallery is to acquire, preserve, catalog, research, and exhibit works of art in Scripps College's collection.
The museum showcases four exhibits annually, along with select pieces from the permanent collection. The permanent collection, however, is not on display. The Ceramic Annual, one of the Gallery's yearly exhibits, is the longest-running show of contemporary ceramics in the US, and one of the oldest in the world.
Group tours reservations are available upon request and must be scheduled ahead of time.
