The San Diego Model Railroad Museum is a great place for train enthusiasts of all ages to visit, with both indoor and outdoor exhibits for everyone.
The San Diego Model Railroad Museum offers Scouts programs, summer camps, school field trip programs, and more. Children will get the opportunity to become an engineer for the day as they begin constructing and designing their own railroad system, as well as learning about architectural structuring and the history behind trains and their importance to America.
While visiting the Museum children can play at the Kids Corner room, which is full of interactive activities. There's a library at the museum which holds over 10,000 books, magazines, drawings, brochures, maps, recordings, and files based on trains, as well as over 15,000 photographs. The Model Railroad Museum isn't for just children though, this museum is fun for adults too. Adults will enjoy exploring the museum and checking out all of the dioramas throughout the museum which includes exhibits such as The Centennial Railway Garden, The Toy Train Gallery, The Tehachapi Pass, and more.
